Astros 2024 Season Motion Package

ASTROS 2024 CAMPAIGN MOTION PACKAGE

The Astros reached out to BallerFX to create their 2024 season motion branding that encompassed their content day LED wall shoot, digital needs, and in-venue graphics package.

It was essential for the team on the ground to be able to easily update and edit this package to keep the content fresh throughout the team's season. A toolkit was built for efficient updates to player names, numbers, images and video.

MOTION THEME

Heading into 2024, the Astros were focused on recapturing their title from 2022 after losing in the ALCS in 2023.

The core message was "RELENTLESS," which is underscored by other gritty words like sacrifice, grit
and sweat.

Leaning into the relentless tagline, we built out the motion to be constantly moving with the help of animated brush strokes and gritty textures coupled with a text treatment that has an upward syncopated rhythm.

PLAYER ANIMATION TOOLKIT

The Player Animation asset needed to remain flexible, so they could update for all players.

In order to make this efficient, all layers related to the players name or number across all boards and ribbons were consolidated into one editable instance.

Player images and footage could be adjusted on the fly, so they could keep the content fresh throughout the season.

In order to make this possible, each board has its own text width or height limits so the text will constrain once it hits those limits.

The stroked elements all adjust based on the size of the players name, which you can see most clearly in the main board underscore of the players last name, and in the scribble background on the ribbon boards.

IN-GAME PROMPT TOOLKIT

Text is integrated into the repeating icon word pattern, and upgraded from the 2022 Postseason assets. It now moves from bottom to top instead of left to right. It's big, bold, and punchy.

Alternating between stroke + fill reinforced this "Bold with a bit of brag" mantra. There was also a need for the text to be edited. The toolkit allows for flexibility in text width while maintaining proper spacing.
